Delhi Chief Minister arrested for alleged corruption

March 21. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Indian security forces arrested the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, this Thursday, as part of the investigations into an alleged case of corruption and after the Indian Justice refused, precisely, to grant him immunity to avoid possible arrests.

The arrest took place at his official residence in New Delhi despite the fact that he had requested to challenge a summons issued by the Indian Justice to question him. However, Kejriwal himself has confirmed that he has no intention of leaving office, according to information collected by the television network NDTV.

In this sense, he has described the summons as “illegal”, while his party, the Aam Aadmi, has described the arrest as persecution and has stated that it will take the case to the Supreme Court. “We have requested an urgent hearing before Justice,” they have stated from the formation.

Shortly after the arrest, dozens of party followers gathered around the house in an attempt to block the adjacent roads to prevent him from being transferred to prison, although Kerjriwal is scheduled to go to court this Friday.
