MADRID 13 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health confirmed this Wednesday that at least 3,365 people have died and more than 14,340 have been injured in attacks carried out by the Israeli Army over the last year, since the outbreak of the regional war after the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023.
Lebanese health authorities have highlighted that in the last 24 hours alone, 78 people have died, mostly in the South governorate, where 39 people have died and another 69 have been injured; and in Mount Lebanon, where another 24 people have lost their lives and 17 more have been injured.
The rest of the victims of the last day have been confirmed in the governorate of Nebatiye, located in the southeast of Lebanon and where 13 people have died and 25 more have been injured, and finally in the governorate of Baalbek-Hermel, where two people have died and eleven others have suffered injuries.
Of the total number of deaths, about 2,300 are men, while another almost 650 are women and more than 200 are children. On the other hand, the high number of injuries is due in part to the coordinated explosion of communication devices that surprised the Lebanese population at the beginning of September.
The Israeli Army unleashed a new invasion of Lebanon on October 1 after several weeks of intense bombing and attacks against the country, including the aforementioned coordinated explosion of thousands of ‘pagers’ and ‘walkie-talkies’ linked to Hezbollah, after more than eleven months of fighting with Hezbollah in the border area.
The resurgence in hostilities is part of the clashes that began more than a year ago, after Hezbollah attacked Israeli territory a day after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which led Israel to unleash a bloody offensive against the Gaza Strip, where more than 43,700 people have already died.
