Aug. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least 43 people have died from the latest wave of fires that affected the northern part of Algeria and was considered controlled last week, according to a new balance of victims released by local authorities.
In the El Tarf region alone, there are records of at least 36 deaths, to which should be added the confirmed deaths in Suk Ahras, Sétif, Skikda and Mostaganem, reports the Tout sur l’Algerie news portal.
Since the beginning of the summer, Algeria has already accumulated 48 deaths as a result of the fires, which has led the Government to activate all the alarms.
The Ministry of Justice has urged the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate any possible criminal action and the National Gendarmerie reported at least 13 arrests on Sunday.
