On the night of July 18, the cybersecurity platform Crowdstrike began to register failures, as reported by the interruption monitoring portal Downdetector; an error that has since spread globally and has affected more countries, including Spain.

This failure has generated a series of problems that include failures in service management operations and in the connectivity or availability of the tools offered by Crowdstrike’s client companies. This is the case of Microsoft, which has suffered a failure in its services, which has affected companies such as AENA, Ryanair, Air Europa, Europa Press or Bizum, among others.

Crowdstrike has clarified that this is a bug that can cause “a blue screen or bug check error related to the Falcon sensor,” a software platform designed to prevent cyberattacks on computer systems.

More recently, they have indicated that they are “actively working with affected customers” due to this “flaw found in a single content update for Windows hosts.” This means that Mac and Linux hosts “are not affected,” according to the firm’s CEO, George Kurtz.

The manager, who has commented on this through his X profile (formerly Twitter), has insisted that “This is not a security incident or a cyber attack”“and that the issue has now been identified and isolated. A fix has been implemented to address the issue.
