Between May 15 and 17, in San José, Costa Rica, a political dialogue was held between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), where 115 representatives from 37 countries from both regions met to discuss digital governance within the framework of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance. During these three days, participants shared good practices and highlighted the need for cross-border interoperability and electronic identification, the implementation of proof-of-concept projects, as well as capacity building and knowledge sharing through a community of practices . The dialogue agreements seek to forge a path towards building cooperation mechanisms between the EU, its Member States and LAC in key areas of digital governance. The EU-LAC Digital Alliance is a digital cooperation framework that promotes the development of a secure, resilient and human-centered digital ecosystem. This is the first intercontinental digital partnership agreed between both regions. ECLAC is part of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance with the objective of building capacities in the countries of the region that improve the design and implementation of digital governance policies, regulations and mechanisms.
