Of course, there is fine print, but the improvement in order and space savings seems substantial.
Based on a system of proprietary connectors, iCUE Link is an entire ecosystem of products made up of modular fans that can form larger groups by joining together through a system of tokens, coolant pumps, radiators and hybrid couplings for graphics cards. All these elements are connected to each other using a single cable (or more, but always maintaining a single power and data line), when it is normal to have one or even several branches with terminations for each fan.
This common cable leads to the iCUE controller, which in turn connects to the motherboard. The “brain” of the set is responsible for managing the individual load of each component of the cooling set (it should be noted that the fans are digitally controlled), modifying the RGB lighting at the user’s pleasure and providing alerts thanks to the temperature sensors integrated in each piece. Of course, the management software is fully accessible from the console Stream Deck.
According to Corsair, iCUE Link can reduce the space occupied by the cables of the cooling system by up to 50%, although it does not yet want to say by how much. All we know is that the first products in the range will be available from June, so at least that question will be cleared up shortly.
