Corning confirms that the Galaxy S23 will debut its new Gorilla Glass Victus 2

At the time, Corning launched Gorilla Glass Victus as the strongest glass ever installed in a smartphoneSamsung being the first company to adopt its use in its terminals, and according to we read in the Corning press releaseIt seems that history is on its way to repeat itself. Well, the Samsung Galaxy S23 will be the first terminals on the market with Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

This new generation of Victus glass is designed to withstand drops, including drops on rough surfaces. According to the company, a terminal covered with this glass should be able to withstand drops of up to one meter on concrete, or up to two meters on asphalta resistance that adds to the already existing resistance to scratches.

Among the rest of the novelties of the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, we found an average of 22 percent “pre-consumer” recycled glasswhich means that it is recycled glass from sources such as bottles or other objects used by end userssomething that has earned the company a mark called “Environmental Claim Validation”.

It is expected that we will find this glass both on the front and on the back of the new Samsung terminals, but it will be necessary to see if this is the case, since the information that Corning has provided is scarce.
