US President Joe Biden used his final speech to the United Nations to speak of the need to end the Middle East conflict and the 17-month civil war in Sudan, and to highlight the support of the United States and its Western allies for kyiv since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
Biden said that “we will continue to support Ukraine until it achieves freedom.” Vladimir Putin’s war has failed, he said, and the Russian president’s goal of weakening NATO has failed.
As for the war in Gaza, President Biden says it is a conflict that needs global assistance. The United States will continue to support Israel’s defense, but is also making efforts to resolve the conflicts through negotiations.
Other “forgotten” conflicts such as the war in Sudan cannot be forgotten.
President Biden has also put the urgent issue of climate change on the back burner, where he said the US has done a lot, as well as with health emergencies.
“We call on our partners to rise to the occasion” in mobilizing funding for the developing world, said the US president, who ends his presidency with this speech.
