Confirmed: Konami will bring Suikoden back with a double remaster

Although several companies will not go to gamescom 2022, Ubisoft confirms attendance

The Tokyo Game Show 2022 is taking place in Japan and one of the companies that was predicted to give the most to talk about was Konami. Clues had surfaced that suggested the soon return of Suikoden and today Konami confirmed that it will revive the series.

That’s right, if you’re a fan of this time series of the original PlayStation, your wishes have come true, as the announcement of the new game in a much-loved Konami series turned out to be the return of Suikoden.

Players who were waiting for the return of the series with a new installment may be somewhat disappointed at first, since the return that Konami announced consists of a remastering. That’s not a bad thing though, as Konami has not only announced the remastering of the first installment, which debuted way back in 1994 for the original PlayStation, but will also apply the HD treatment to the second game.

You read that right, Konami will release a remastered compilation of Suikoden Y Suikoden II call Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars in the West. Best of all, this new iteration will be available on both consoles and PC. In fact, shortly before the announcement, the edition for Steam. That’s right, the game is finally coming to PC in the West. The title will also be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and is scheduled for release in 2023.

The remasters of Suikoden they will bring many improvements and novelties

Konami named this compilation as a remaster, but the truth is that it includes many new features that could be considered as something more (even slight redesigns to the characters, stages and the map are seen), although without losing the 2D charm.

According to the first details, the illustrations are in high definition, so the pixel art has been renewed. Also, the battle sound is in HD and ambient sound effects have been added. In terms of gameplay, an autosave system, the ability to fast-forward battles, and a conversation log have been added.
