Precisely since Wednesday there had been talk of Umaña’s departure from the Commerce portfolio. The possibility gained more strength after a speech he gave in the House of Representatives in which he expressed gratitude and his best wishes to those present.
“I want to wish you wonderful successes and send you a fraternal hug from a Colombian, from a professor who has only been in this Congress trying to develop what I have always thought, what we have always thought, what has been the example of defense of rights humans since my father, Eduardo Umaña Luna, and my brother”he said in the House.
After his intervention in this corporation, Umaña was asked about the rumors of his departure and his response was: “I am not denying, rather, I am not going to speak”.

What would be the future of Umaña and who would replace him in the Ministry
Unofficially, there is talk that Umaña would not leave the Petro government and would become the new Colombian ambassador to the European Union, in Belgium.
