Telegram, an encrypted messaging network, claimed that Durov “has nothing to hide” and complies “with the laws of the European Union.”

“Telegram complies with EU laws, including the Digital Services Act: its moderation is within industry standards and is constantly improving,” the network added in a statement.

Durov, a Russian-born billionaire who holds UAE, Russian and French nationality, resides in Dubai.
