Colombia’s six subsidies that it can aspire to in 2025: how much do they pay?

The Department for Social Prosperity (DPS) is the entity that coordinates the various social programs and help lines that aim to guarantee a minimum income and promote the social and productive inclusion of the most vulnerable population. With 2025 just a few days away, Several beneficiaries ask themselves what subsidies they can aspire to in the new year and how much they pay approximately.

The director of the DPS, Gustavo Bolívar, reported last week, within the framework of the entity’s management accountability, that several programs will undergo significant adjustments in 2025 because the budget allocated to the entity will be reduced from 9 to 5.3 billion pesos.

Likewise, the official highlighted that 100% of the 2024 budget was allocated to the most needy territories and stressed thatThe Government of Colombia will advance in the optimization of resources with the objective of making social investment more efficient and transparent.

1• Care Assessment:
This line of intervention of the Citizen Income program is intended for mothers who are heads of households with children under six years of age. It reaches more than 570 thousand homes. Depending on the region and the socioeconomic conditions of each family, the amount is up to $500 thousand.

2• “Colombia Without Hunger”:
This line of Citizen Income intervention is aimed at households with children and adolescents between 6 and 17 years old and covers 2.2 million families. According to the members of each family and the level of vulnerability, the amount is up to 500 thousand.

3• “Greater Colombia”:
This initiative includes monthly financial assistance that is given directly to elderly people who are homeless, who do not have a pension or who live in poverty. The amount currently reaches $225,000.

4• “Guaranteed Minimum Income”:
It is a strategy promoted by the District of Bogotá that contemplates a differentiated monthly economic transfer to the most vulnerable households in the Colombian capital, according to the socioeconomic characteristics and composition of each family. The amounts of the transfers range between $116 thousand and $840 thousand.

5• “Young Income”:
It is a subsidy that covers a part of the cost of rent for young people who are in vulnerable conditions to strengthen their access to decent housing and in turn encourage permanence and graduation from higher education. The amount can reach $400,000 per academic period, with the option of adding another $200,000 if they finished with an average higher than 4.0. It has not yet been confirmed whether next year it will continue with the same characteristics.

6• “VAT refund”:
This is an economic compensation to reduce the impact of this tax on the consumption of goods and services that currently reaches more than 2 million families in poverty. The amount varies between $80,000 and $100,000 pesos per cycle in 2024. Social Prosperity has not yet confirmed whether it will remain in effect next year.
