Colombians abroad moved millionaire figure with Bancolombia

Bancolombia’s figures in terms of family remittances amounted in 2022 to more than US$5.7 billion through 15.5 million transactionswhich represented 15% more than what was paid in 2021.

With these figures, the entity said, it remains the largest payer of family remittances in the country with more than 60% participation in this market, if one takes into account that, according to the Bank of the Republic, the total amount of remittances that entered the country during 2022 amounted to US$9,429 million.

The bank said that it is a job that it does through cAgreements with 17 remittance companies that guarantee presence in more than 150 countries, and digital channels such as the ‘A la mano’ app, which allows thousands of people to receive these resources in Colombia digitally, without the need to wait in lines or travel.

On the other hand, the support activities for Colombians residing in other countries do not stop for this bank in serving as a bridge for the transfer and payment of resources.

“Also, aware that they plan to return, it is our duty to accompany them in their project to have their own home in the country,” says Cristina Arrastía, Vice President of Business at Bancolombia.

In this area, more than 3,000 Colombians abroad fulfilled the dream of having a home in Colombia in 2022thanks to the 503,000 million pesos disbursed by the financial institution.

“It is our way of telling them that we know their priorities and that we have all our abilities available to build, together with them, those dreams that translate into well-being for their families and sustainable development for Colombia,” adds Arrastía.

According to a survey conducted by the financial institution, more than 190,000 compatriots abroad have expressed having had a relationship with Bancolombia’s products and services. Of them, 56% are women and 70% are between 18 and 39 years old. In the same way, 60% have plans to return to the country.
