( Spanish) — During a maritime control and security operation in the Pacific, the Colombian Navy intercepted an illegal semi-submersible ship approximately 15 meters long, in which they were transporting 2,643 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, reported this Sunday in a statement.
“With this operational deployment that had foreign support, more than 87 million dollars were prevented from entering the financial structures of drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific and more than six million doses from circulating in the illegal market. international”, they detailed in the statement.
The merchandise would have Central America as its distribution destination.
The military personnel entered the boat where they found two lifeless bodies and two people who were in poor health, who were transported to a ship that was in the area where they received medical attention. Later, both the rescued people and the deceased were taken to Tumaco, department of Nariño, in the south west of the country.
“Apparently inside the semi-submersible vessel there was an accident due to the generation of toxic gases from the fuel,” the authorities said in the statement.
