Colombian government and the ELN extend the third cycle of round tables in Cuba

The delegations of the Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) reported Thursday that they are extending the closure of the third cycle of the peace talks table, which is currently taking place in Havana.

According to a joint statement, this decision was made “given the importance of the issues on the agenda being developed (participation of society in the peace-building process, ceasefire, and humanitarian actions and dynamics).”

The delegations informed that they are “positively advancing their work” and that the closing of the third cycle is postponed until June 8.

A week ago, the delegations had announced the continuity of the negotiating table, after the group announced a “pause” in the process, due to the “contradictions” of the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro.
