The Program Social Protection for the Elderly (Colombia Mayor), run by the Department for Social Prosperity (DPS), consists of the delivery of monthly assistance of $80,000 for older adults who do not have a pension or live in poverty. When is it paid in October?

What is the objective of this program?

With this initiative, the Government of Colombia aims to improve the quality of life and cover the basic needs of the elderly in vulnerable situations, such as food and other essential expenses, thus helping to reduce inequality.

In this part of the year, The initiative covers 1,641,336 beneficiaries and represents a national investment of 215 million pesos.

What are the payment dates for Colombia Mayor in September 2024?

The DPS reported the beginning of the ninth cycle of payments for the year starting September 20. Payments can be withdraw until next Thursday, October 3.

DPS director, Gustavo Bolivarrecalled that those over 80 years of age will now have an income close to $225,000, and in that sense he highlighted that “this year the program was strengthened to truly contribute to the reduction of inequality in the country.”

Beneficiaries will receive payment notification via text message informing them of the day and amount they will receive for the cycle corresponding to the month of September.

For this reason, the entity recommends that all beneficiaries keep their data updated. To do so, you must contact the toll-free numbers 601 379 48 40, in the city of Bogotá, and 01-8000-95-1100 from the rest of the country.

They will also be able to receive official information through the links of the mayors’ offices throughout the country.

Who can register in Colombia Mayor?

To enroll in this program, the adult must meet the following requirements:

Being Colombian.

– Have resided during the last ten (10) years in the national territory.

Be at least three years younger than the age required to receive an old-age pension (Currently 54 years for women and 59 for men).

Lacking sufficient income or income to survive. In accordance with SISBÉN IV, all levels of groups A and B and C are taken up to subgroup C1.
