Most of the numerous migrants from Xichú are supportive people who, like their relatives in the town, want the community to improve and therefore continue to send them money to finance works, regardless of whether or not they can visit them.
In the case of Xichú, these works are in charge of the civil association “Migrante de la Sierra” that administers these resources.
Collective remittances are important because they make up quality capital for the development of the communities of origin.
In 2021, Mexico was the second destination country for remittances in the world, only surpassed by India. Since 2022, the volume of remittances has been on the rise for 36 consecutive months, and already exceeds oil exports in value. Remittances are an increasingly essential resource for Mexican development and economic dynamism.
