How does Sisbén work?

Beneficiaries are determined according to their classification in the System for the Identification of Potential Beneficiaries of Social Programs (Sisbén)whose latest update allows us to identify the sectors with the greatest deficiencies in order to strengthen their access to social assistance.

To find out if you are a beneficiary or to check your classification to receive a social assistance program, such as the Citizen Income, you must register with Sisbén.

What are the rankings like?

There are four household classification groups in Sisbén: A, B, C and D, which are in turn organized into subgroups according to their ability to generate income and their living conditions.

Group A: It includes households in extreme poverty. In this group, households will be classified into 5 subgroups, from A1 to A5.

Group B: corresponds to households in a condition of moderate poverty. This group will have 7 subgroups from B1 to B7.

Group C: corresponds to households in a vulnerable condition. This group will have 18 subgroups from C1 to C18.

Group D: It includes households that are not in poverty. This group will have 21 subgroups from D1 to D21.

How to check your Sisbén ranking?

To consult the SISBEN By ID number, you must follow these steps:

1) Enter the official SISBÉN page.

2) Select the option “Check your Sisbén Group”.

3) Enter the ID number.

4) Check your classification: After entering your ID, the system will show you your classification in the SISBÉN IV, which is used to determine if you are eligible for programs such as the Citizen Income.

If you do not appear in the database or wish to update your information, you can visit the SISBÉN office in your municipality or complete the procedure online.
