The Chinese Foreign Minister, Qin Gang, received the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Andrei Rudenko, in Beijing this Sunday, a meeting marked by the ephemeral rebellion led by the Wagner mercenary organization.
Qin and Rudenko have addressed the international and regional situation by addressing issues of common interest, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained in a statement. Rudenko is the ‘number two’ of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Wagner’s mercenaries, led by their leader Yevgeni Prigozhin, took the city of Rostov-on-Don and its strategic military installations without resistance on Friday night after denouncing a bombardment of their forces by the Russian Air Force.
On Saturday Wagner was preparing to march on Moscow, but late in the afternoon an agreement brokered by the Belarusian president, Alexander Lukashenko, was announced, whereby the march to Moscow would cease, those involved would not be prosecuted and Prigohzin would leave for Belarus.
