China sends record number of warplanes to Taiwan

Dec. 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense has reported on Monday that it has detected 71 Chinese planes and seven warships in the vicinity of the island, while it has denounced that the Chinese Army has crossed the Taiwan Strait with 47 of the reported aircraft.

These figures mark a new maximum in the number of daily Chinese Armed Forces flights in the area, coinciding with the military exercises, carried out this Sunday, in response to the signing by US President Joe Biden of a law that increases security assistance to Taiwanese authorities.

The island’s authorities have detailed that the incursions have been carried out by 42 combat aircraft, two marine patrol aircraft, an early warning aircraft and unmanned aircraft.

Defense has communicated that its Armed Forces have monitored the situation and have responded by assigning combat air patrol planes, Navy ships and land-based missile systems.
