The Chinese authorities announced this Tuesday their intention to “deepen” and “expand” their military ties with Russia, with which they also hope to maintain exchanges at the highest level, as reported by the vice president of the Central Military Commission of China, Zhang Youxia, during a meeting with the Russian Defense Minister, Andrei Belousov.
Thus, Zhang has expressed the importance of establishing “a new starting point” for bilateral relations between the two countries, while expressing his willingness to “work with Russia to strengthen and develop” ties between the parties.
“We look forward to working together to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state, maintain close high-level exchanges, deepen and expand military relations between the two countries, while safeguarding our interests in sovereignty, security and development,” he explained. .
In this sense, he added that in recent years, relations between China and Russia have reached the “highest level in their history”, according to information collected by various Chinese media.
For his part, the Russian Minister of Defense, Andrei Belousov, stressed that he has held “substantial conversations” with the Chinese side, with which he has evaluated the situation “with an eye on upcoming projects.” Furthermore, he praised the strategic partnership between both countries, established “thanks to Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin”, as he stressed.
