March 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Chinese Foreign Minister, Qin Gang, told his Ukrainian counterpart, Dimitro Kuleba, during a telephone conversation the importance of Ukraine and Russia resuming peace talks “as soon as possible” to end the war.

“China is concerned about the possible escalation of the crisis and the possibility of it getting out of control. We hope that all parties will remain calm, rational and restrained, resume peace talks as soon as possible and press for a return to peace.” path of political settlement,” he said, according to a statement published by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Likewise, Qin has expressed that China “has always maintained an objective and fair position” on the conflict, at the same time that it has “committed” to being a promoter of peace negotiations. “China will continue to play a constructive role in the ceasefire, cessation of war, mitigation of the crisis and restoration of peace,” she reiterated.

For his part, Kuleba has praised China’s role in the “reconciliation” between Saudi Arabia and Iran, while he has also thanked Beijing for the “sincerity” of its proposals to “promote a ceasefire” in Ukraine.

“During my call with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang, we discussed the importance of the principle of territorial integrity. I stressed the importance of (Ukrainian President) Volodimir Zelensky’s peace formula to end the aggression and restore just peace in Ukraine,” he said on his Twitter profile.

China in February presented a 12-proposal peace plan for Ukraine in an effort to provide a political solution to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, calling for a ceasefire from both sides and upholding the territorial integrity of all countries.
