China conducts military exercises against submarines amid rising tension in the region

Oct. 5 () –

The Chinese Armed Forces have carried out a series of anti-submarine military exercises on Wednesday in the face of increased tension in the region after the latest launches of ballistic missiles by North Korea and as the United States, Australia and Japan seek to strengthen its military capabilities in the area.

The Chinese Army has indicated that they have carried out aerial exercises for 48 hours and has stressed that the forces of the Asian giant “are always ready for battle”, according to information from the newspaper ‘South China Morning Post’.

For this they have made use of at least eight Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft. During the maneuvers, the troops have identified false targets and real submarines, in addition to analyzing magnetic, optical, electronic and radar signals.

The authorities have highlighted the use of real scenarios for the development of training that allows the ability of troops to combat and fight in complex environments to be tested.

This type of training occurs in the midst of increasing tension in the Asia-Pacific region and the rapid increase in the submarine presence by powers such as the United States.

Last April, the United States Navy increased the number of submarines present at its base on the island of Guam and expanded the facilities to move several more.

Australia, for its part, has announced its plans to acquire nuclear-capable submarines from the United States and the United Kingdom within the framework of the so-called AUKUS, an agreement that was harshly criticized by France and to which China strongly opposes, alleging an increase in risk. of nuclear proliferation.
