The Chinese Government has expressed its concern about the situation in the Middle East and has called for “moderation” to avoid a further escalation of tensions in the region after the Iranian launch of dozens of drones against Israeli territory, without condemning The agression.
“China expresses its deep concern about the current escalation and calls on relevant parties to act calmly and restrained to avoid further escalations,” the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement in which it noted that “the current situation is the latest consequence of the Gaza conflict”.
The Chinese authorities have defended that “there should be no further delays in the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2728” – on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue – and have claimed that “the conflict must finish now.”
Thus, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson has appealed to the international community, “especially countries with influence”, to ask them to play “a constructive role for the peace and stability of the region.”
