ChatGPT has been updated with a new feature designed to help us type a little less, something called “custom instructions” and it gives us a place to tell the OpenAI chatbot the things you should always know about us and how we would like you to answer our questions.
The feature is in betaworks on all platforms where ChatGPT works –being especially useful on mobile devices or with touch screens—and is optionally available today to ChatGPT Plus subscribers everywhere except the UK and EU.
Right now, when we open ChatGPT, we find ourselves with an artificial intelligence that does not have a preconceived idea of who we are or what we have talked about before, but it is true that there are details that should be useful in all the conversations we have with the chatbotwhich is why this option is quite useful by itself.
It’s still hard to say exactly how users should create their custom instructions and how ChatGPT should interpret them, so probably some degree of experimentation is required to understand how to use this new functionality of ChatGPT.
