April 19 () –
This April 19 marks 142 years since the death, in 1882, of the British naturalist Charles Darwin, the scientist who He credited natural selection as the basis for the evolution of species.
His work, in which 'The Origin of Species' (1859) stands out, includes numerous quotes that measure Darwin's vision of the world and thought. Here we have selected some.
– “There is certainly no progress.”
– “Love for all living creatures is the noblest attribute of man.”
– “A man who dares to waste an hour of time has not discovered the value of life.”
– “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor is it the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”
– ““There is no fundamental difference between man and animals in their ability to feel pleasure and pain, happiness and misery.”
– “Ignorance generates trust more frequently than knowledge.”
– “I am not fit to blindly follow the leadership of other men.”
– “Man selects only for his own good: nature only for that of the being she tends.”
