Some time ago we talked about the possible cancellation of the Intel Meteor Lake-S processors, some chips that for now it is still not clear if they will reach the market or not, something that is less and less clear as more rumors and leaks appear. Now, we met with an update in Linux kernel 6.5 code that only raises more doubtssince support for these processors is included.
Specifically, what have been added have been drivers to add support to the kernel and for the new hardware to work correctly, in the case of not only Intel Meteor Lake-S processors, but other devices such as an NVIDIA Tegra234, a Qualcomm IPQ5018 or a Qualcomm SDX75.
Be that as it may, we find ourselves in the position that we do not know Intel’s intentions, who might be considering leaving a door open to a possible arrival of Meteor Lake on desktopeven partially with some models that may work well, or that support has simply been added just in case.
The only thing that is clear is that we cannot assume that these processors have been completely cancelled, since if sothere would be no further work on software-level support for them.
