CCOO threatens the Government with going on strike if there is no salary agreement for officials

Sep. 16 () –

CCOO has warned the Government this Friday that it will “intensify” its mobilization process, without ruling out the call for a strike, if there is no salary agreement in the field of Public Function that guarantees the purchasing power of its workers.

The Public Area of the union has sent a letter to the Executive demanding the “immediate” convening of the negotiation table to reach a new salary and working conditions agreement, which guarantees purchasing power, repeals the decrees of rights cuts of the 2010 period -2012 and substantially improve working conditions in the public sector.

CCOO recalls that on July 14 it called a concentration of union delegates at the gates of Congress as a “wake-up call to the Government”, after months waiting to have a proposal from the Executive on the table.

“To date, this union has only obtained good intentions, but without specifying any proposal or convening the negotiating table,” argues the union, which gives an “ultimatum” to the Government: Either it gives an immediate response or next week it will announce new demonstrations, without ruling out going on strike in the public sector.

“CCOO is not going to allow the constant loss of purchasing power, for which it is already calling for an agreement on wages for all public administrations and the public business sector,” the union underlines in a statement.

The union wants this agreement to be multi-year, including the year 2022, and that in addition to salary increases, it contemplates another battery of matters, such as the implementation of the 35-hour day with a basic character; the development and updating of the Basic Statute of Public Employment; regulatory changes in matters of equality, and the extension of early retirement to all public employees.

In terms of employment, in addition to successfully completing the stabilization of the templates, CCOO calls for progress in the elimination of the replacement rate and urgently undertake an employment plan for the rejuvenation of the templates.

Along with these matters and in view of the negotiation of the General State Budgets for 2023, the union calls for a review of compensation for service or residence; improve the regulatory assets of passive classes and recover contributions to public pension plans.
