The Secretary for Trade Union Action and Employment of the CCOO, Mari Cruz Vicente, called this Monday for a “global agreement” with the participation of social agents, with measures that accompany those taken in the labor reform, to continue reducing unemployment and consolidating quality employment.
Vicente, in a statement, highlighted that unemployment fell in June by more than 42,000 people, standing below 2,900,000; while permanent contracts continue at historic levels, reaching 44.3% of signed contracts in June, and Social Security affiliation breaks a new record, exceeding 20 million people affiliated.
“These positive labor data are clearly driven by the labor reform”, stressed Mari Cruz Vicente, despite the difficult situation due to high inflation, “which is weighing down the purchasing power of households and slowing down consumption”.
CCOO has valued the measures taken by the Government to deal with the consequences generated by the war in Ukraine and high inflation, but has indicated that it is evident that the measures approved so far have been “clearly insufficient” and it is urgent to take measures to limit the high prices, fundamentally in basic goods and services, as well as acting on the causes of the rise in energy prices and achieving a “balanced distribution” of the adjustment among all incomes.
To this end, Mari Cruz Vicente has stressed that a global agreement is essential, with the participation of the social agents, to address this problem, with measures that accompany those taken in the labor reform, that continue to reduce unemployment and consolidate the employment of quality.
