President Gustavo Petro has reportedly accepted the resignation of Housing Minister Catalina Velasco. Government sources confirmed to Portafolio that The head of state has reportedly asked him to leave the portfolio.

Velasco’s last formal meeting as Minister of Housing with the president was reportedly this Monday during an Economic Council held at the Casa de Nariño, which was also attended by the Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla, and the new Minister of Transport, María Constanza García.
The person who would replace Velasco to lead the Minvivienda would be the architect Helga Maria Rivaswho was temporarily in charge of the Adaptation Fund earlier this year.

Velasco’s departure It is presented in the midst of the ministerial shake-up which President Petro announced in mid-June.
The changes that have taken place in the cabinet also include the departure of Luis Fernando Velasco as Minister of the Interior and that of Néstor Osuna as Minister of Justice. The leadership of these portfolios was assumed by Juan Fernando Cristo and Ángela María Buitrago, respectively.
