The 29th session of the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee (CDCC), held on October 14 in Paramaribo, Suriname, adopted a resolution on the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Access to Justice in Matters Environmental in Latin America and the Caribbean (Escazú Agreement).
In it, the participating Caribbean States recognized the relevance of the Escazú Agreement in promoting sustainable development in the small island developing States of the Caribbean, as support for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the SAMOA Trajectory , the Paris Agreement and other international instruments.
The resolution also invited all Caribbean States to consider ratifying or acceding to the Escazú Agreement, in accordance with article 21, as appropriate, as soon as possible.
