Capcom stops remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica made by fans

A group of enthusiasts revealed earlier this year a project to make a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica. “Unfortunately, Capcom contacted us and they canceled our projects. We are very sorry to tell you that they canceled it out of pure evil, as there are no signs that they are going to release a Code: Veronica official”, affirmed those responsible for the project.

The community began to investigate to find the reason for the cancellation, since Capcom had many months to send a cease and desist notice. However, he took action once the game was in an advanced stage of development and nearing release.

Many believe the cancellation was due to the fan group accepting donations. The community thinks that Capcom did not like the idea of ​​someone outside generating profits with the name of their popular franchise.

However, those in charge of the remake assure that in reality the donations were not the problem. They claim that Capcom simply did it to protect the rights to use its saga and its characters. This has happened before in other similar cases, especially in which Nintendo is involved.

The remake page no longer has any of the fan-made material. You can only see a notice notifying that “Capcom decided to cancel the project.” At the time of writing this, the company has not commented on the matter.
