Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a new package of 500 million Canadian dollars (about 340 million euros) in military aid to Ukraine after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit taking place in Washington, the US capital.
The two leaders took advantage of the meeting to condemn the recent attacks carried out by the Russian army against Ukrainian territory, especially the one that took place at the children’s hospital in Okhmatdit, located in the capital, kyiv, where more than 40 people died.
Trudeau has expressed his willingness to provide the necessary medical assistance to treat the victims of this bombing, while also addressing the country’s defence needs and the latest developments within the framework of the coalition to supply F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
Zelensky, for his part, spoke of the importance of expanding training missions for Ukrainian pilots in order to use these aircraft and thanked Trudeau for the assistance provided, according to a statement from the Presidency.
“It is very important for our people to hear that there is new assistance. Thank you for your help, for the additional package, which will allow us to strengthen our heroes on the battlefield,” Zelensky said.
