Call for Competition for the Hiring of Scientists at the Agro-Aquaculture Nutritional Genomics Center (CGNA)
1. Introduction:
The Agroacuícola Nutritional Genomics Center, CGNA, is a Regional Center for Science and Technology in plants and food, which, from La Araucanía, contributes to economic and social development, to improve people’s quality of life.
2. Mission:
Develop basic and strategic research to add value to vegetable raw materials, in order to generate products and processes with high economic potential for human and animal nutrition, and contribute to the development of the agri-food chain and each of its components.
3. Contest Charges:
Charge 1: Scientist to generate science in plants in studies of signaling and response to stress, microorganism-plant interaction. Professional with a solid background in science, Biochemist, Biologist and/or Biotechnologist degree or similar. Ph.D. degree or Doctor of Science. Highly motivated by science. The applicant must have scientific publications belonging to the first quartile (Q1) and have led research projects in the area, ideally in the last 5 years.
Charge 2: Scientist in Bioinformatics. Professional with solid training in data analysis and modeling of biological systems. Graduated in Mathematical Engineering, Bioinformatics Engineer, Biochemist or similar with a specialty in bioinformatics. Ideally Ph.D. o Master in bioinformatics.
The applicant must have demonstrable experience through leading and/or participating in scientific publications belonging to the first quartile (Q1), ideally in the last 5 years.
Both positions are to be established in Temuco, CGNA, as part of a multidisciplinary team, associated with local, national and international universities, to develop science and technology in the area of environmental stress in grain legumes, which involves omic technologies, molecular plant physiology and root microbiota.

4. Deadlines
4.1. Publication:
CGNA website, scientific RSS and Linkedin.
The main notice that gives rise to these terms of reference is available from December 26, 2022 on the CGNA website www.cgna.cl.
4.2. Clarifications and queries:
If any candidate needs clarifications about the application documents, they should ask their questions to the email [email protected] until January 12, 2023.
4.3. Opening:
The CVs and other information that the candidates wish to submit will be received at the CGNA offices, Calle Las Heras Nº 350, Temuco, or by email to [email protected] until Monday, January 16, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. (Midday).
5. Validity of the Call for competition
The contest will be valid until January 16, 2023, which is equivalent to 22 calendar days from the date of publication of the call for contest.
6. From the opening
On January 16, 2023, the envelopes will be opened together with the applications received via mail. A Minute will be drawn up that accounts for all the Curriculum Vitae received and at the same time for those who comply with the administrative procedures established in these terms of reference, to continue in the process. A committee will be formed consisting of:
- Administration and Finance Manager CGNA
- In charge of monitoring and control.
This Commission will proceed to deliver the CVs to a pre-selection and final selection commission of the CGNA.
7. Evaluation and Selection.
7.1. Preselection and Selection Commission.
The curricular records received by electronic means and other means will be evaluated and analyzed by this commission.
The Commission will evaluate the candidates and may request clarifications that allow a better understanding of the information presented.
This commission will issue a Minute, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the shortlisted candidates, and will add a paragraph of final recommendations where they will realize their priorities, preferences and recommendations. They will be ranked for interview in that order.
Interviewing at least the first three candidates.
For the interview, this commission will be made up of:

7.1.1. Call and place of interviews:
The commission will proceed to call the shortlisted candidates for interviews via conference zoom or similar, which will be reported to the shortlisted candidates.
After the interview, those shortlisted will undergo a psycho-labor evaluation, which will be an integral part of the final evaluation. This psycho-labour interview will seek that the professional meets the profile for a position in the competition.
The professional to be hired will be the one ranked first in the final interview stage and who meets the requirements of the psycho-labour profile.
Deadline: January 30, 2023.
7.1.2. Communication Results.
The selected candidates will be formally informed by letter and via e-mail of the final decision to proceed with the recruitment. Once the contest is closed, it will be reported on the CGNA website.
7.2. Withdrawal.
In the event that the chosen candidate withdraws from his application, the second best evaluated will be called.
8. Contracts
The CGNA is the Institution that will formalize the work contracts according to the legal nature that authorizes it for these purposes. The favored candidate will have a period of 10 business days to sign the contract, counted from the date of communication of the result of his application.
If the favored candidate does not sign the contract within the indicated period, his candidacy will be understood to have been withdrawn, and the second best evaluated candidate will be called.

Profile specification
Position: Investigator
Profession:
Professionals with a solid background in science, with a Ph.D. in the area of science, with proven experience in the plant area in the last 5 years. In the case of the bioinformatics position, the professional could be a candidate for a PhD or Master of Science in their area.
However, you must have demonstrable experience in the area.
Purposes of Charges
The professionals will form part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary research team at an internal, local and international level.
Propose, conduct and structure science and technology activities, scientific publications, projects, training of human resources, contribution to technological developments and innovation, among others.
The residence of the charges will be in Temuco, Araucanía Region.
Specifically, the professionals will interact in three broad specific objectives of environmental stresses in grain legumes, which cover the areas of: Genomics, Plant Physiology, Plant Molecular Biology and root microbiota.
Charge 1.
Must have laboratory experience, with domain in areas of cell biology and plant molecular biology, including: Assay designs and analysis of transcriptomes, proteomes, gene function and expression, among others.
Experience in microorganism-plant interaction.
Charge 2.
• Experience in bioinformatics, with proficiency in biological data modeling, assembly and/or alignment of genomic sequences.
• Experience in analysis of transcriptomes, proteome, etc., with graphic representations of results.

Generate new knowledge to understand the challenge under study, which will be published in journals of the area
Propose highly competitive R&D projects in their respective areas.
Participate in internal and external work groups that contribute to scientific excellence, R&D and human resources training.
Contribute to the development of associative science in the CGNA, the Country and internationally.
