ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok, has long been a tough nut to crack for Meta, who has had to resort to copying several of TikTok’s features on Instagram in order to stay relevant. Now, as we can see in PicoXR, Bytedance is going for Meta in the virtual reality segment with its Pico 4.
The Pico 4 are virtual reality glasses that come with some points of advantage over the Quest 2, but are generally similar. Inside we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chip accompanied by 8GB of RAM and between 128 and 256GB of internal storage.
At the optical level, we have two screens of 2160×2160 pixelspancake lenses with a 105-degree field of view and a electronic IPD regulation system that will allow us to adjust the distance between the eyes to any value between 62 and 72mm electronically, without having to take off the helmet at all.
Obviously, despite being called Pico OS 5.0 for its customization layer, The operating system of this helmet is Android, and we have one 5300mAh battery in a rear position that will allow us to have better balance. The Pico XR Pico 4 come at a price of 429 euros.
