Burkina Faso announces the "neutralization" of more than a hundred suspected terrorists

17 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Burkina Faso authorities have announced the neutralization of more than a hundred suspected terrorists as a result of various attacks carried out over the weekend that have killed dozens of combatants.

Security sources consulted by the AIB news agency have indicated that, in addition to “neutralizing” more than a hundred suspected terrorists, they have recovered “important logistics.”

The authorities of the governorate of the North region specified this Sunday that six soldiers and 34 members of the so-called Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VPD) had been ambushed about 15 kilometers from the town of Ouahigouya.

The Burkinabe authorities, now led by the military coup leader Ibrahim Traoré, had decreed this past Thursday a general mobilization to face the increase in jihadist attacks in the country, the work of both the Al Qaeda affiliate and the Islamic State.
