The Bulgarian authorities have decided to close their ports to all vessels registered in the Russian Maritime Register of Navigation from April 8, 2023, as reported by Ports Europe.
Thus, all ships registered in Russia will be prohibited from docking in all Bulgarian sea and river ports, regardless of the flag they fly, thus following the sanctions imposed by the European Union in retaliation for the invasion of Ukraine ordered by the Russian president. Vladimir Putin.
The Bulgarian government has been banning Russian-flagged ships from entering its ports since April 17 last year, a restriction included in the fifth package of sanctions imposed by the European Union. However, now it is extended to Russian vessels sailing under the flags of other countries.
