To no one’s surprise, this Thursday will be marked, at least politically, by the indictment of the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz. The Supreme Court decided yesterday to open an investigation for alleged revelation of secrets after a complaint from Isabel Díaz Ayuso’s boyfriend – and confessed fraudster -, Alberto González Amador. The prosecutor came out this Wednesday to defend himself, ensuring that he had not leaked any emails and that is why he would not resign. Among the prosecutors’ associations, there are disagreements on the issue: the majority (and conservative) Prosecutors’ Association maintains that García Ortiz should leave; The progressive Professional Union of Prosecutors does not agree.
And apart from ‘the domestic’, the news is today in Brussels. The heads of State and Government of the European Union meet this Thursday and Friday to address the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as migration issues, in a summit to which Spain asked to also debate the political crisis in Venezuela. President Pedro Sánchez will defend the application of the Migration and Asylum Pact agreed by the Twenty-Seven, and rejects Von der Leyen’s proposal to install “return centers” for irregular migrants outside the EU.
At the same time, the presidents of the Popular Party and Vox, Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Santiago Abascal, will attend meetings of their European parliamentary groups, also in Brussels.
And if that were not enough (and returning to the national level), we tell you that former minister José Luis Ábalos is getting closer and closer to indictment, so (more) curves are coming. We will update you with all the news here. Meanwhile, we highlight:
