BRUSSELS, Jul. 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, has asked China on Friday to use its influence over Russia to help end the war in Ukraine and to support the peace process proposed by kyiv.
The High Representative explained in a meeting with Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit being held in Laos this Friday that Russia’s war against Ukraine is “an existential threat to Europe.”
“It expressed concern about Chinese exports of large quantities of dual-use goods and items, which represent support for Russia to develop its military equipment,” the European External Action Service (EEAS) said in a statement.
On the other hand, Borrell has reiterated that the EU’s position regarding Taiwan has not changed. “The EU maintains a ‘One China’ policy, which recognises the government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal government of China,” he added.
