June 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, has called this Thursday for an independent investigation of the bombing carried out by Israel against a school of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the camp of refugees from Nuseirat, in the center of the Gaza Strip, which has left at least 40 dead.
“Reports from Gaza show time and again that violence and suffering remain the only reality for hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. This terrible news must be investigated independently, in line with the latest order of the International Court of Justice (ICJ)”, Borrell has published on his X social network account in reference to another message, also about the attack, from the UNRWA commissioner general, Philippe Lazzarini.
In that sense, Borrell has insisted on the need to establish a ceasefire both to achieve the protection of Palestinian civilians and to achieve the release of the hostages in the hands of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), for which he has urged both the Palestinian group and Israel to accept the three-phase plan presented by the United States.
According to the Israeli Army, nine members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad were killed in the attack; Gazan authorities have reported the deaths of at least 14 children.
