During the same day, the head of European diplomacy expressed his solidarity with the Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safad, for the crossroads in which the country finds itself in the face of “multiple regional crises” and for the violation of its airspace during the Iranian attack on Israeli territory.

In that sense, both have shown their concern about the new escalation represented by the Iranian attack, and have once again asked for restraint from both parties to “not overshadow the crisis in Gaza.”

“An immediate and lasting ceasefire is necessary, as well as the release of the hostages. The population of Gaza needs urgent help: safe and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid remains essential,” said Borrell, who has returned to call for adequate funding for the UN Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) and its “indispensable” and “irreplaceable” role.
