BRUSSELS Oct. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, has described as a “violation of International Humanitarian Law” the bombing launched by Israel on the center of Beirut this Thursday morning and in which medical workers have died.
Borrell regretted that “once again” Israeli forces have attacked medical personnel, after the bombing affected a medical center of an organization linked to the Hezbollah militia party. The Islamic Health Authority Center has confirmed the death of seven of its workers, while the Lebanese Ministry of Health has raised the total number of deaths to nine.
“Not only are civilians victims of attacks, also in densely populated areas, but (Israel) deprives them of medical care,” lamented the head of EU diplomacy in a message published on the social network X.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not given details of this specific attack, but they have once again defended the “selective” bombings launched in recent days in the Lebanese capital. They have alleged that they seek to minimize collateral damage and have once again blamed Hezbollah for hiding in residential areas, “putting the population at risk.”
