Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak meet in the middle of the race to replace Liz Truss

Oct. 23 () –

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak have met this Saturday night, as confirmed by two separate sources to the British network BBC, while the Conservative Party is immersed in the process to replace Liz Truss at front of the government.

However, the issues discussed between the two candidates to lead the ‘Tory’ party have not transpired and from the chain they consider it unlikely that conclusions and more information will be transferred tonight.

Sunak advances in the race for the leadership of the formation and already has the support of 128 parliamentarians, Johnson however ranks second with only 53 sponsors, according to the count of the British chain. The former prime minister’s campaign assures that he has the support of the 100 ‘Tories’ necessary to present himself, but from the party they doubt it.

However, at the moment, Penny Mordaunt is the only candidate who has been officially presented, although she barely has 23 supports when the voting intentions of 204 of the 357 conservative deputies are known.

Sunak and Johnson, and the rest of the candidates, have until 2:00 p.m. (local time) on Monday to officially apply, so if the party unanimously supports a single candidate, the United Kingdom could have the position occupied that same afternoon.
