Bogotá, Valle and Antioquia added half of the GDP by 2021

He Dane published yesterday the data of the GDP of 2021 by departments. Despite the statistical lag of one year in disclosure, the national economy, which in 2021 totaled $1.192 trillion at current prices, it was especially driven by three regions: Bogota, antioch and Valley.

Among the departments that appear as the largest economies according to their GDP from 2021 also appear Santanderwith $74.7 billion, cundinamarcawith $73.5 billion and Atlantic with $52.9 billion.

It is worth mentioning that these economies together represent 66.8% of Colombia’s GDP, which reflects a high productive concentration in the main populated centers of the country.

On the contrary, the departments with the lowest GDP are Guainia and Vaupes with $443,000 million and $337,000 million, respectively.

The Dane highlighted that during 2021, when the GDP grew 115 in volume, from the 32 departments and Bogota14 present a higher growth than the national one, among which stand out La Guajira (28.2%), Bolivar (14.2%), antioch (13.7%), cundinamarca (11.7%) and Bogota (11.3%).
