E3 2023 announced that it will take place in person in Los Angeles. This is one of the most important video game events of the year, since several companies present all the content for the following months. Nevertheless, Blizzardafter the purchase by Microsoft, had not announced anything regarding the convention BlizzCon 2023.
In recent years, the company had to move the event due to the coronavirus outbreak to an online edition called BlizzConline. However, the harassment scandals ended up destroying the relationship with the fans and it was definitively canceled.
Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard, recently explained that they want to go ahead with Blizzcon 2023 in a face-to-face edition but with a renewed format and new faces.
“As previously announced, we took a hiatus from Blizzcon while reimagining it for the future, but we want to celebrate a face-to-face event again with the community”, The director explained to the Los Angeles Times.
“We recently hired a new leader for BlizzCon, April McKee, who is hard at work on that plan and we are committed to bringing back BlizzCon in 2023″ he added.
