The Secretary of State of the United States, Anthony Blinken, concludes his agenda in Colombia on Tuesday with a visit to a Migratory Integration Center in Bogotá to learn about the strategy of the Colombian capital in the mission of dealing with ongoing migratory flows.
The centers, created at the end of August, are known as Integrate. The mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, accompanies Blinken on the visit this Tuesday.
“The main objective will be to share the Bogotá Strategy for the social, economic and cultural integration of the New Bogotanos, through the INTEGRATE Centers in the SuperCADE,” the Mayor’s Office reported in a statement delivered to reporters.
These centers have the support of the United States Agency for Development (USAID), and have the objective of “decentralizing services such as biometric registration and the Temporary Protection Permit (PPT), to make them easier for the migrant population to access.” “, indicates the mayor of Bogotá.
Bogotá currently hosts 500,000 Venezuelans, which represents more than 20% of the estimated total in Colombia, according to official data.
Blinken ends his visit to Colombia on Tuesday, the first stop on a tour that will take him to Chile on Wednesday and then to Peru.
In Colombia, Blinken met on Monday with President Gustavo Petro and Vice President Francia Márquez, in addition to other cabinet officials.
