U.S. State Department Secretary Antony Blinken met with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and regional outlook, and agreed to increase cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

The two top diplomats discussed the need for a more “prosperous” and “interconnected” region in coordination with their partners and allies in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, according to a statement from the State Department.

They also discussed the implementation of the Pact for Climate, Essential Minerals and Clean Energy in order to further deepen their bilateral economic ties with the aim of strengthening mineral supply chains and supporting the “global transition” towards clean energy.
