A Covid uptick coupled with an early and aggressive syncytial virus season and the onset of influenza, ahead of year-end gatherings, forced authorities in New York to implement a winter plan.
An additional 75 mobile testing units, 50 offering influenza and syncytial testing, booster vaccinations available for children 6 months to 4 years of age at 11 public hospitals, and free home antigen tests available at more than 250 centers, are part of the plan to help the population mitigate the spread in crowded places.
People over the age of 65 who test positive for these viruses will have immediate access to antiviral treatments with drugs such as Paxlovid and Tamiflu. Ángela González, Voice of America, New York.
