Today took place the second event dedicated to the quantum computing, Quantum Now 24 was held at the BEC in Bilbao. At this event we were able to listen to the Deputy General of Bizkaia as a public entity collaborator for boost this technology within Bizkaia. A collaboration of public entities together with private companies which aims to bring this technology to all companies, small and large, local, Spanish and even European.
We have also heard from Valentin GarciaInnovation Director of Lantik to present the new roadmap of Quantum. For this They have created the BIAQIN brand (Bizkaia Advanced Quantum Industries), which started in 2018 with an investment of 1,000 million and has multiplied by 8 for this 2024. In addition, this investment has not only been allocated for development of technology, but also invests in Digitalization, education and infrastructure.
For this The three universities of Bizkaia have joined forces with the three local technology centres as support in this new project. The project also has the support of the European Unionwhich has planned a investment of 850 billion which is expected to be distributed in a term of 15 to 20 years for quantum computing and from which this ambitious project can receive a part. From Brussels it has been announced collaborated and managed a job in conjunction with 27 countrieswith great support from all participants, thus creating a common project from Europe.
