June 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The American president, Joe Biden, held a conversation this Monday with the emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al Zani, whom he called on to use “all appropriate means” to get the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to accept the terms of the ceasefire and hostage delivery agreement that Biden himself presented on Friday.

Biden “has urged Emir Tamim to use all appropriate means to ensure that Hamas accepts the agreement,” the White House explained in a statement.

Al Zani and Biden consider that the proposal “offers a concrete ‘roadmap’ to end the crisis in Gaza” and Biden has stressed that Israel is willing to “move forward in the proposed terms” unless Hamas accepts the initiative. .

“This is the best possible opportunity for an agreement,” according to Biden, who blames Hamas’s refusal to release the hostages for the current “prolongation of the conflict” and the “denial of relief for the people of Gaza.”

The US president has stressed that his country, together with Egypt and Qatar, “will work to ensure that the entire agreement is applied.” For Biden, Hamas “is now the only obstacle to achieving a ceasefire and relief to the people of Gaza.”

Biden has also highlighted “the tireless efforts” of the Qatari emir and his collaborators in pursuit of the release of the hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

The plan announced on Friday by Biden – whose preparation the president attributed to Israel – consists of three phases. The first consists of a complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas of Gaza, the partial release of hostages, the return of Palestinian civilians to their homes, and an increase in humanitarian aid.

The second phase consists of a permanent end to hostilities, the exchange of Palestinian prisoners for surviving hostages, and a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. The third and final stage would consist of the beginning of the reconstruction of Gaza and the delivery of the mortal remains of the deceased hostages.
